Launceston Camera Club

The club started in December 1976 with just 12 members and has slowly grown, to around 35 members currently.

We meet weekly from September to April, where we have internal and external speakers, along with our club competitions and our inter club competitions.

The club is suitable for all levels of photography, from beginners right through to experienced. Covering a wide range of photographic genres, meaning that there is something for everyone's photographic interests.

The members of the club are great at supporting and helping each other, to learn and progress within photography. Although entering our competitions is not compulsory it is a great way to obtain constructive feedback.

The club is a member of the Cornwall Photographic Alliance, along with being affiliated to the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain through the Western Counties Photographic Federation. As a club we regularly enter into external competitions and have been winners of the Cornwall Photographic Alliance annual competition 11 times. In 2021 as a club we also won the Amateur Photographer of the Year competition (APOY 2021).

Through the COVID-19 lockdowns, like many other clubs, we conducted our meetings through zoom, although this was not the same as meeting in person, it kept the club operating.

We also had fortnightly club Facebook competitions, where the winner from the competition, set and judged the next competition, these proved hugely popular and encouraged us all to think more creatively.

We are back meeting in the hall again and have welcomed several new members to the club, thanks partly to a print exhibition we have had in a local shop window over the Summer.
