Ringflash with Santa

In this film, Mark takes you through Speedlight photography with the trusty ring flash attachment while shooting the official photographs for Father Christmas himself. In this one Mark uses two flash lights, on a red paper background with a separation light being added mid shoot to bring a dynamic look and feel to the final image.


Getting Creative with Speedlites

Mark starts by demonstrating a pair of mid ranged speedlites, using one as a backlight and another on camera with a universal ring flash accessory. With this simple and easy to recreate setup with any type of speedlites, Mark shows you how to capture stunning images. Getting more in-depth, he demonstrates how easy it is to apply these simple techniques to produce a range of different looks and styles. Finishing off the session Mark gets really creative and gets the model to climb into a pop up highlight, creating a variety of artistic images with the same simple little setup.

Academy LIVE - Creative Studio Flash - Motion Blur

In this Academy live broadcast, Mark brings a bit of creative to the session to inspire you all to pick up the camera and capture some images. In todays setup, Mark uses just one light as his studio flash which is positioned above overhead the model. Fixed onto the key light is a deep dish reflector which brings a sharp specular light to the image.


Academy LIVE - The Dancer - Speedlite Strobe

In this Academy live broadcasts Mark teaches how to capture great stroboscopic images utilizing Speedlites. Here Mark uses three speedlites in order to achieve his desired images, however Mark shows you how you can capture these images whether you have 1 light, 3 lights, 5 lights and beyond.


Speedlites - TTL on Location

Armed with a camera, speedlites and smoke canisters Mark Cleghorn heads to the beach to test out the TTL capabilities of the Yongnuo speedlites. We go behind the scenes with Mark on an unplanned shoot. As Mark has some spare time after a shoot and instead of sending the model home early they head to the beach to test out a few Yongnuo speedlites and their TTL capability. As well as bringing the lovely wet welsh weather, some gels and smoke canisters Mark creates some interesting images.

He begins using it on camera for simple, strong portraits before popping the flash onto Lastolite extendable handle for some fun walking images. Mark then utilises the wireless functions of the Speedlite to set the key light on a stand giving him the freedom to really move the light around work the location for maximum variety. Finally, he pops back to the studio to demonstrate how the Ezybox Speedlite2 to be combined with Lastolites Strobo accessories to take your creativity to the next level.

The Dark Side - Combining Flash and Ambient on Location

Recorded on location during a live workshop Mark guide the delegates and you through the process of deciding the role you want flash to play within your image and then how to achieve the desired mix of flash and ambient light. Using a single light Mark shows how flash can be used to dominate an exposure or how by balancing the power of the flash with shutter speeds you can introduce more or less of the ambient light to create knock out images quickly and simply.
