Lighting
Natural Light
Master the art of using natural light before any artificial light and the world of photography will become a simpler world.
Don’t thing of natural light as an enemy, think of how best you can use it and how you can manipulate to become even better.
Learn to use apertures of light, like windows and architecture to control and re shape the light.
If you’re in a wood or forest, use the first tree of the wood to create a top shade and hence create a new direction
The Clock & Compass
Mark system called the clock and compass allows you to explain to someone else exactly where to put the light in relationship to the camera and subject. The camera position is always referred to as being at 6 o’clock and the subject is in the middle of the clock dial.
The Equipment
Keep it simple and current id possible!
Why well the most current kit usually carries the future technology so you can use it more accurately as well as more remotely, including changing power and firing.
Keep it simple so you can concentrate on the subject more and less on the tech. Less tech the better, less lights the better, especially when developing your basic skill sets.
Getting Started with Studio Lighting
Lighting in the studio is not a black art, anyone can create simply beautiful images with a little knowledge and practice.
These films are dedicated to getting you started in setting up a small studio space.
The Speedlite
Small little pockets of light that can be used to light your subject no matter where you are in the world.
Choose either to master the art of TTL (Through The Lens) Metering or learn to manipulate the manual settings, which ever speedlite strobe can be used for great effect whether on camera or off.
Lighting on Location
Sunlight, Room Lamps, Speedlite and High Speed Flash, which ever you use in the scene or setting, the key word is lighting!
See how to overpower the sun, to blend with interior light as well as fix big problems fast.
